The first half hour is dedicated to the very basic Ballet movements of hands & feet along with music–induced free expression; the last half hour is devoted to tap - where the children change shoes and learn to make noise & move to rhythmic music.
Ballet I (7-9 yrs) Foundation for all dance forms starts here with beginner barre & center work. The emphasis is on simple, clean technique and musicality. Knowledge of dance terminology and body awareness are also stressed.
Ballet II (10-12 yrs) A more serious student is required for this twice a week class commitment when the teacher deems the student ‘ready’ pointe shoes are introduced. Pointe work is done mostly at the barre, with simple basic steps in the center.
Ballet III (13+) At this level 3 classes a week is mandatory, with extra classes if desired. Students must have focus with the intent on perfecting technique. Expression and music interpretation are developed along with individual style and strength.
Ballet IV This level is for students who maybe considering Dance as a career or who desire to perform with The Studio Ensemble. They take at least 4 classes a week, working very hard, fine tuning their art. Enrollment in this class is at the discretion of the teacher.
Adult Ballet will be taught in the same classical tradition as all ballet classes at The Studio. This class is for adults of all ages who have always wanted to take ballet lessons or for those who stopped years ago and want to start up again.
Adult Beginner Tap If you are looking for an hour to relieve your mind of stress, to learn something new and have some fun, then this is the class for you! Students in this class are introduced to the techniques through barre work, “across the floor,” and center work. There is no prerequisite for this class, except a willingness to learn and to let go.
Pre-Teen Jazz (8 yrs+) This class is for students with little or no experience in jazz, but who have had at least 1-2 years of Ballet or 1 year plus taking a Ballet class along with Jazz I. Traditional Jazz is taught as well as different techniques varying from classical to street Jazz.

It is highly recommended that students enrolled in this class take at least one class of ballet per week in conjunction with this class. (Ballet is the core foundation for ALL forms of dance.) The focus of this class is to build and strengthen the basic jazz techniques. Also, students develop a keen sense of rhythm and an individual sense of style. The hour class begins with isolations, full body warm up, and stretches. We then proceed to “across the floor” and center combinations.
Theatre Our class focuses on strengthening the actor's tools - the body, the voice, and the imagination. We use improve games, tongue twisters, rhythm instruments, poetry, fun props and costumes to help young people grow. They gain confidence as individuals and also learn to work others in an ensemble. Whether they have their sites set on Broadway or just want to have a good time learning this class will provide them with the foundation they need for success.
Playing with Purpose This is a Theater-based class for pre-school children together with an attending adult, a class that will combine elements of music and movement to stimulate imagination and creativity. Using costumes and props, this class will encourage interaction between adult and child – a fun-filled learning experience
Lyrical / Contemporary In a high energy class, dancers will work on flexibility and strength in a jazz warm-up based on ballet technique. Jump and turn progressions across the floor will introduce dancers to some new and unusual "tricks." Focus on musicality and performance are a major emphasis in combinations taught in contemporary, lyrical and jazz. Dancers are challenged to become magnetic and confident performers.
